What shipped
Tradeoff Scorecard is a self-contained browser tool for scoring Option A vs Option B. Title the decision, name both options, then add criteria with weight (1–5) and scores for each side. Live weighted totals (sum(weight × score)) drive a clear winner badge plus margin in points and as a percent of total weight. Presets cover build vs buy (SaaS), hire vs contractor, and Model A vs Model B. A copy button dumps a plain-text decision receipt; optional localStorage persistence under tradeoff-scorecard-v1. No accounts, no network beyond fonts.
How to try
- Open the live demo (iframe on the right, or full-page link below).
- Load a preset (start with Build vs buy (SaaS)) or title your own decision and name both options.
- Add or tweak criteria; change weights and scores and watch the scoreboard + winner update live.
- Hit Copy decision receipt for a plain-text dump you can paste into Slack or a doc.
Scope trim
No multi-option matrices (A/B only), no shared links, no probability math beyond weighted sums, and no export formats beyond clipboard text. Persistence is local to the browser only.
Limitations
- Weights and scores are 1–5 ordinal scales — illustrative, not calibrated utility.
- A tie is possible; the UI surfaces it, but you still need a human tie-breaker.
- Clipboard copy needs permission; otherwise select the receipt manually.
- Not a formal RFP scorer or compliance tool — use it to start the conversation, then document elsewhere.
Suggested next steps
- Optional third option (C) with the same weighted table.
- Shareable URL hash encoding the scorecard for async review.
- Export a tiny Markdown or PNG card for Slack.
